Mison may have already starred in a short film (Steve) alongside Keira Knightley and Colin Firth and acted opposite Anne Hathaway in One Day - not to mention being best pals with actor Rupert Friend - but somehow he's avoided becoming a household name.

However that looks set to change with the success of new TV series Sleepy Hollow. On its opening night in America the gothic supernatural show, based on the 2001 Tim Burton film starring Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci, received an audience of over 10 million – the highest rating for an autumn opener in Universal's history. The popularity of the programme, in which the British star plays the lead role alongside Shame star Nicole Beharie, shows no sign of abating and it has now been recommissioned for a second series just three episodes into the first one. His fame is set to grow when the programme premieres in the UK in November.
